"I fell in love with the rich quality of film photography when I met my 1949 Rolleflex camera after art school, and haven't gone anywhere without it since. I left it at a farm in Italy once and the owner lovingly had it delivered by hand back to me via her son. It's been wrapped in a wool scarf on a long blizzardy hike in the Swiss alps, it's been tied up in found plastic trash bags when caught in tropical storms in Mexico... it's basically a part of me. Since embracing the digital age of photography, I pack both my Rollei and a Canon 5D Mark II at all times (any suggestions for the perfect camera bag?). I try to be both present and in the moment, and also use the camera as a second set of eyes. Since receiving a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago I have shot for various editorials, personal commissions, and have had exhibitions for the last 10 years in museums and galleries around the world, as well as installations in unconventional outdoor spaces like Joshua Tree and various gardens. I love it all. " - Danielle Rubi-Dentzel
